The 96th annual Pennsylvania Farm Show is underway this week in Harrisburg. The event is the largest indoor agricultural exposition in America, with 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibitors under roof in the 24 acre Farm Show complex. Rep. Michele Brooks (R-Crawford/Mercer/Lawrence) was at the Farm Show earlier this week and visited with number of residents from her area who are participating in this year’s show. Rep. Brooks Comments on Castle Doctrine Legislation Being Signed Into Law by Gov. Corbett - 6/28/2011
Castle Doctrine legislation that more broadly defines the circumstances where Pennsylvania citizens may choose to exercise their right of self protection was signed into law by Governor Corbett Tuesday in Harrisburg. Rep. Michele Brooks (R-Crawford, Lawrence & Mercer) said she was pleased to see this legislation approved that ensures citizens who act to protect themselves and their families from criminals need not fear prosecution for their actions. Rep. Brooks Bill Approved to Protect the Eligibility of Senior Citizens for the PACE and PACENET Program - 6/8/2011
Legislation that will prevent senior citizens from losing state funded prescription drug assistance after receiving minimal automatic adjustments to their Social Security incomes has unanimously passed the Pennsylvania House. Bill sponsor Rep. Michele Brooks (R-Crawford/Mercer/Lawrence), said the bill would protect senior citizens from being bumped off the state’s very successful and popular PACE and PACENET programs due to a Social Security cost-of-living adjustment. Rep. Michele Brooks Comments on House Passage of Budget Bill - 5/25/2011
The Pennsylvania House passed its version of the state budget Tuesday in Harrisburg. The $27.3 billion budget plan includes no new or increased taxes and stays within spending limits set by Governor Corbett earlier this year. Rep. Michele Brooks (R-Crawford, Lawrence & Mercer) said she supported this tough and fiscally conservative budget because it ensures the state will spend responsibly in the coming year. Hundreds of sportsmen and supporters of the second amendment rallied on the Capitol steps Tuesday calling for action on Castle Doctrine legislation now moving through the legislative process in Harrisburg. Rep. Brooks Comments on Federal Rejection of I-80 Tolling Plan - 4/7/2010
Federal transportation officials have once again rejected the application to impose tolls on Interstate 80, put forth by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and PennDOT. Lawmakers who opposed the plan that would have crippled economic activity along the I-80 corridor are praising the Federal Highway Administration for their decision. Rep.
